some things we discard
it's not that i don't want to do this. i kinda do. it's one of those things i want to have done but don't particularly want to actually do. its like that. i think i'll work on a short story or something first.
i've realized that i've never written any fiction in my life. well no fiction i've ever liked. i've written some. but i didn't like it. it was a mandated sort of thing and wasn't very good.
i really think i know what to write about. garden state proved there was a big audience for it. the issue is just getting it right. i don't want to just right for that audience exclusively. there's something bigger there as well.
also, garden state is way way way overrated. don't get me wrong. it's not a bad flick. its actually kind of enjoyable. but it's not what people think it is. it is not the greatest movie of all times. not at all. the characters are all too out of the ordinary. and the foundation of the movie was there unordinariness. he watched a "friend" dig his mom's grave and steal her necklace and shit. and then that dude spent the next two months looking for it. what the fuck. i mean it. what the fuck.
ROSEBUD!

Garden State definitely was different. I thought it was cool because Zach Braff directed and starred in the movie. He wrote the story for it when he was in college. Just kind of inspiring that a kid in university can write something successful.
